About me

Hi! My name is Calvin, I'm 17 years old, and I'm a software developer, amateur artist, musician and writer. In my spare time I also explore video editing and motion graphics. I really like old devices and software and often use them as a working tool.

I am currently graduating from a lyceum with a physics and maths major. Earlier I finished music school in piano class. At the same time, I am self-educating: I am developing my skills in writing stories and composing music, learning Swift and Objective-C.

In the past, I have used various UNIX-like systems extensively, including GNU/Linux and BSD distributions. My favourite is Fedora, but I also love Debian and Red Hat Enterprise Linux. I'm currently using OS X.

Although I don't play games very often, I can name three of my favourites: Minecraft, Terraria and OpenTTD. Perhaps someday I will create my own game.

Hardware

I prefer using old hardware. Here is current list of my devices.

iMac 24 (early 2009) with OS X El Capitan

Dell Inspiron 640m with Mac OS X Snow Leopard

Orange Pi Zero 2 with Debian Buster

Canon PowerShot A3300 IS

Goals

One of my main goals in life is to develop simple software that solves complex problems. I would also really want to give old devices a chance for a second life, because many of them are still capable of performing everyday tasks. Creativity is no less important to me - I want to get really good at drawing, composing music and writing stories. I'd also like to spread knowledge to people, so I'm thinking about creating a video blog. Last but not least, I would like to learn how to create really cool things with video editing and motion graphics.
